(Lead Guitar Virtual Showcase III)
We Are Guitar
Guitar Salon International Foundation on the GSI YouTube Channel
Join us 12/15/20 @ 8 PM C. for the premiere of WE ARE GUITAR – a guitar-based variety show that connects legendary musicians with aspiring guitarists from a neighborhood school near you. Our guest is Dr.Molly Miller, guitarist for Jason Mraz and the Black Eyed Peas. She’ll be performing the Jason Mraz hit ‘Makin It Up’ with Lead Guitar students around the country and guitarists at home can join in the virtual ensemble using scrolling sheet music and playing tips from host Brad Richter. It’s a blast!
We Are Guitar also features a mini-masterclass with Professor Denis Azabagic
from Roosevelt University and a performance from the Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) Youth Ensemble. The show is presented by our dear friends at Guitar Salon International Foundation and Cordoba Guitars.
See you Tuesday!

Step 2: Recording and Uploading Your Part
**Submissions Due on Nov. 25th
by midnight to be featured in the showcase on December 15th**
When you are ready to record, follow these simple instructions to ensure your video submission will sound great and sync up with everyone else's playing.
Gather your equipment. You will need headphones, a phone or a computer with a webcam, and a second device to play the rehearsal video. Oh, and don't forget your guitar!
Minimize background noise. Set up in a quiet room and ask others in your home to avoid making sounds while you record. Turning off loud fans and AC can help quiet things down.
Set up the camera. Make sure you are well lit and the background is not distracting. Do a quick test recording to check if you can capture good quality audio and video. If you are using a phone, you can ask a friend to film you or you can prop the phone up on a chair with a pillow. Please film yourself in landscape. Make sure to prop up the phone without covering the built-in microphone. This is usually found on the top or bottom of your device.
Put on your headphones. Plug them into a second device that you are not recording with and load the youtube rehearsal video for your part that you practiced along with. This will allow you to play along with the rehearsal video when recording without letting the sound bleed into your video submission. You must play along with the rehearsal video for your part when recording so you stay in tempo with all of the other submissions.
Check your tuning! If you don't have an electronic tuner at home, you can use this website. There are also several free tuner apps for your phone. GuitarTuna and Pano Tuner work well in our experience.
Press record. Start recording first and then start the play-along rehearsal track in your headphones. Doing it in this order will allow you to focus on the count in. We will edit all of the video submissions, so you don't have to worry about playing as soon as you start recording yourself.
Listen to your recording. Ensure that you sound your best and that you stayed in time with the rehearsal video.
Name your video file with your part. This helps us sort your submissions. Something like makinituplevel4.mov would be perfect.
Submit your video files in the form below. Please don't navigate away from the page until you get a success message after you click submit. You may have to wait a minute if your video file is very large or if you are submitting from mobile.
That’s it! We will take your submission and edit it into our online guitar ensemble for the Showcase. We look forward to making music with you!
